The Budweiser “Brewed the Hard Way” Superbowl ad (above) takes clear aim at smaller craft breweries by claiming that Bud is brewed the hard way, implying that smaller brewers must be doing it the easy way in their basements or something.
This, of course, irritated the smaller breweries and brewpubs that have been popping up all over the nation, taking small chunks of Bud’s profit with them. This also pissed off the politicians who are now promoting craft brewing as a job-creating industry in their local districts. Ouch!
Maybe they should stick to Clydesdales and puppies.
It’s also ironic that Bud (InBev) has been buying up small brewers as a way to stem its losses.
How long will Bud last if they piss off the very politicians they control? Time will tell…
