It’s because their fans were more likely to drink more beer after a victory than their opponents. Pretty obvious, right? I mean nobody expected the Cubs to ever even get to the Series, much less win it, so their fans, all over the world, got stinking drunk. Happy drunk to be sure, but you bet your sweet bippy (whatever that is) that a lot of beer was drunk in Chicago following that victory.
Nothing against the Cleveland Indians, they fought bravely, but Cleveland can’t hold a candle to Chicago when it comes to drinking beer. For this reason, the Beer Overlords chose the Chicago Cubs to win the World Series.
