Peru has a new President. President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has announced that he is appointing Fernando Zavala, the outgoing chief executive of the country’s biggest beer supplier to the position of Prime Minister. According to Reuters “Zavala is leaving SABMiller’s Peruvian subsidiary Union de Cervecerias Peruanas Backus Y Johnston as it undergoes an acquisition by Anheuser-Busch Inbev.” So, basically, the guy who used to run the beer biz in Peru is now going to run the country of Peru.
We are sure he’s fully qualified and all that. He obviously brings years of corporate beer selling experience to the table, which is, clearly, what the country of Peru needs. What country wouldn’t want a brewer from an international corporate conglomerate to run their country? The one thing that’s certain is that the country of Peru will not run out of beer any time soon. Mr. Zavala will see to that. We all know that politics is a lot more fun when you throw beer into the mix. This should be fun to watch! Just let me grab a beer and get comfortable in front of the internet. I wonder if they’ll install a kegerator at Machu Picchu?
